{"id":963,"date":"2016-07-01T15:51:33","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T15:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arabidopsisunpak.org\/?page_id=963"},"modified":"2024-07-22T15:34:56","modified_gmt":"2024-07-22T15:34:56","slug":"cure-projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/arabidopsisunpak.org\/?page_id=963","title":{"rendered":"CURE Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/arabidopsisunpak.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/UnPAK-CURE-Partner-Information-1.pdf\">UnPAK CURE Partner Information<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">CofC (each semester): <em>The Ecology and Genetics of Responses to Changing Temperature<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In BIO 211 (Sophomore level course called &#8220;Ecology, Evolutionary Biology and Conservation Biology&#8221;)\u00a0we will be working with <em>Arabidopsis thaliana<\/em> plants from natural populations collected throughout Eurasia\u00a0as well as SALK T-DNA single gene knockouts that have been grown at two different temperatures (control and high temperature).\u00a0 Data are\u00a0collected at two time points and shared with the <em>Arabidopsis<\/em> research community via our public database and analyzed by students to test hypotheses related to ecological and genetic responses to changing climate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">CofC (various fall semesters): <em>Ecological and genetic responses\u00a0of natural accessions\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In Plant Ecology we work on examination of phenotypic variation among natural accessions from latitudinal and longitudinal gradients in native or\u00a0non-native ranges in response to ecologically informed\u00a0environments. We also examine functional, phenological, above ground, and below ground traits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Hampden Sydney (Fall semesters):<em>\u00a0CURE project<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In Genetics and Cell Biology, students work with T-DNA insert mutants to investigate the cellular pathways influenced by the disrupted open reading frames.
